ROME, MAY 27 /SRNA/ - The Italian Ministry of Health has issued the highest level of heat warning in Rome, Florence, Bologna and Turin, as temperatures exceed 30 degrees Celsius in many places.
The highest level of warning has been declared for tomorrow, with a note that even healthy people could feel the negative physical effects of the heat, the DPA agency reported.
Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri signed a decree introducing measures to prevent fires and manage the risks associated with heat waves.
According to the decision, large public buildings equipped with cooling systems must be open to residents on days when the highest, "red" alert level is in effect.
The regulation also requires breaks during the day for construction and agricultural workers in shaded or cooled areas, with ventilation or cooling systems to be provided.
In Italy, temperatures have risen much earlier than usual for this time of year, as the days have been sunny, with almost no clouds in the sky.
