BEIJING, NOVEMBER 6 /SRNA/ – A Global Dialogue on China's Governance and Global Development was held in Lyon, bringing together around 100 representatives from the political, business, and academic sectors of China and France.
The event was jointly organised by China Media Group, the Chinese Embassy in France, and the Consulate General of China.
China Media Group President Shen Haixiong emphasized that China's experience in national governance could also be valuable to other countries.
He highlighted two approaches adopted by the Communist Party of China /CPC/ to overcome the historical cycle of the rise and fall of government: enabling the people to supervise the work of the government and implement self-initiated reforms.
Shen noted that the Fifth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee had presented systematic plans to further strengthen full and rigorous Party self-discipline, China Media Group reported.
In a written address, Chinese Ambassador Deng Li stressed that the leading role of the CPC, the unity of the Chinese people, and long-term planning are the foundations of China's governance system.
He also called for stronger China-France strategic ties and practical cooperation.
Consul General Yu Jiang highlighted opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in advanced manufacturing, the green economy, digital technologies, and biomedicine.
He noted that China's measures to stabilize foreign investment and improve the business environment were creating favourable conditions for deepening economic ties.
Thomas San Marco, Vice-President of the Lyon–Saint-Étienne–Roanne Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that China-France economic cooperation should go beyond the framework of traditional trade.
He particularly highlighted Lyon's long-standing business ties with China and the role of the Chamber of Commerce in promoting cooperation in healthcare, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, and technological innovation.
