KYIV, SEPTEMBER 14 /SRNA/ - Former Central Intelligence Agency /CIA/ Director David Petraeus was at the Yahodyn railway station when a Russian drone struck a passenger train, shortly after a train carrying several diplomats, including former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, had passed through the station.
Petraeus was on another train that was stopped at Yahodyn station, CNN reported.
The former CIA director attended the Yalta European Strategy /YES/ international security conference in Kyiv, along with other European officials.
The train carrying diplomats, Johnson, European security officials and other leaders was travelling from Kyiv towards Poland and had left Yahodyn station, located about two kilometres from the Ukrainian-Polish border, shortly beforehand due to the persistent threat of a possible strike.
The train was on Polish territory when the strike occurred. Johnson was accompanied on the train by former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the target of the attack was railway infrastructure in western Ukraine used to transport military cargo from European countries.
