ESCALATION OF TENSIONS BETWEEN MOSCOW AND WEST POSSIBLE

MOSCOW, MAY 28 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned of a potential escalation of tensions between Moscow and the West over the US decision to deploy more troops to Poland.

She told reporters that Russia "has no reason to be happy with this news, given the conditions attached to it".

Zakharova called for the complete withdrawal of US troops from Europe, describing it as a "rational and justified step".

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte praised Washington's move, while calling on other members of the Alliance to step up their efforts in this direction.
