MOSCOW, OCTOBER 16 /SRNA/ - Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has condemned police violence during protests by secondary school students in France, stating that the priorities of President Emmanuel Macron's government are armaments rather than quality education.
"Guns and shells instead of school desks and textbooks - these are the priorities of the French political leadership today," Zakharova said.
She pointed to police brutality as a chronic problem in France, repeatedly confirmed by various human rights organizations.
Recent cases of police violence during ongoing protests across France include that of a young man whose hand was blown off by a police stun grenade, as well as numerous cases of head and internal organ injuries and broken bones resulting from the violent actions of special police units.
