WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 11 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ - Russia shares the grief and pain of the people of the United States on the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon, the Russian Embassy in the United States said.

“Russia itself has experienced horrific attacks by international terrorism, which represents a common threat and can be eradicated only through joint efforts,” the Embassy said on Telegram.

The diplomatic mission reminded that Moscow was the first to offer its condolences to then-US President George W. Bush and that it provided intelligence support to assist subsequent US efforts in the fight against terrorism.

The Embassy added that the time had come for Russia and the United States to work together in the new geopolitical environment, without allowing elites to provoke a new confrontation.
