DMITRIEV: EUROPE IS EXPERIENCING ITS DEEPEST ENERGY CRISIS

VERONA, OCTOBER 22 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ – Europe is currently experiencing its deepest crisis in the energy sector, Kirill Dmitriev, Russian President's Special Representative for Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, said.

Speaking at the Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona, he said that Europe continued to purchase Russian gas despite rising prices, adding that this should not be forgotten.

"Many were surprised by our economic cooperation with the USA, but now they want to join the process. There is no doubt that, once we reach further agreements with Washington, European companies will act much more decisively so as not to fall behind," Dmitriev said.

He expressed expectations that the upcoming forum involving the USA, Russia and Germany would consider pragmatic solutions in the energy sector, noting that Germany would be represented by members of the Alternative for Germany party /AfD/
