AI DEVELOPMENT TO LEAD TO LAYOFFS

WASHINGTON, AUGUST 26 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ - Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said the development of artificial intelligence /AI/ will inevitably lead to a drastic reduction in the number of jobs.

“Mass job losses are inevitable unless this problem is addressed, because artificial intelligence will penetrate every sector of the economy, and no industry will be able to absorb workers displaced from other sectors,” Gates said in an interview with The New York Times.

As one measure to address the problem, Gates proposed introducing a special tax on artificial intelligence that would increase the cost of replacing workers with new technology, with the funds raised used to support people who lose their jobs.

According to Gates, the use of artificial intelligence instead of humans should be banned in some fields where human involvement is essential, such as the work of medical professionals.

Gates added that such a ban is also necessary because workers in certain fields find it more difficult to find employment outside their profession.
