DÜSSELDORF, OCTOBER 23 /SRNA/ - German football giant Borussia Dortmund has announced plans to reward fans who refrain from using their phones during matches.
The popular club is offering signed jerseys and gift cards for merchandise from its club shop to fans who use an app that tracks how often they unlock their phones at the stadium.
"More and more fans are getting annoyed by photography, streaming and social media posts from the stands," the club said in a statement.
The statement noted that fans could voluntarily use the club app's "Fan Mode," starting with tomorrow's match against Eintracht Frankfurt.
"Fan Mode" tracks how often a phone is unlocked during a match, excluding half-time, and awards points to those who refrain from using their devices. Prizes are reserved for those with the highest scores.
