INTERPOL WARRANT LEADS TO ARREST OF HAJDUK FAN IN LIVNO

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 23 /SRNA/ – A Torcida fan has been arrested in the Livno area on an Interpol warrant issued over alleged antisemitic and threatening chants ahead of a recent match in Split, the State Investigation and Protection Agency-SIPA said today.

He was arrested by SIPA officers acting on a warrant issued by Interpol's Zagreb office on suspicion of inciting hostility against members of the Jewish ethnoreligious community, engaging in antisemitic chanting and committing other criminal offenses.

He is also suspected of vandalism, damaging another person's property, hooliganism and the unlawful appropriation of property belonging to others.

The incident occurred last week before the match, as fans gathered and made their way toward Poljud Stadium, SIPA said.

Following police questioning and other investigative procedures, the suspect will be handed over to the Court of BiH within the legally prescribed time limit.

The operation was carried out in cooperation with officers from the Livno Canton Ministry of the Interior.

Before last week's match between Hajduk Split and Ajax in Split, groups of Hajduk fans were heard chanting slogans including "Kill, kill the Jews," "Auschwitz, Auschwitz" and "Wake up, Adolf" as they walked through the city.
