VUČEVIĆ: SERBIA AND SRPSKA HAVE STRENGTH TO PREVENT GENOCIDAL INTENTS AGAINST SERBS

BRATUNAC, JULY 5 /SRNA/ – Advisor to the President of Serbia, Miloš Vučević, told SRNA that the crime committed by Muslims against Serbs in central Podrinje 33 years ago was a continuation of the persecution of the Serb people that began during World War II, adding that there was a genocidal intent to cleanse Serbs from these areas, but that Serbia and Republika Srpska have enough strength to prevent such attempts.

Vučević emphasized that many Serb families paid a high price and that Republika Srpska and Serbia will jointly ensure that every victim is remembered.

"This is our duty to truth and to the suffering people," Vučević stated.

He pointed out that there are many ways to commemorate dates significant to the history of the Serb people.

"Some of these dates have been shrouded in oblivion, and history has proven how things can repeat themselves," Vučević said.

He stressed that everyone should respect the pain and suffering of others.

"Truth is not black or white. Truth does not exist only on one side. Unfortunately, we have all suffered," Vučević said.

He also highlighted that the Serb people in these areas was systematically destroyed throughout the 20th century.

Vučević is attending the commemoration in Bratunac marking 33 years since the Muslim-perpetrated crime against the Serb people in central Podrinje and Birač, which killed 3,267 Serbs during the Defensive-Patriotic War.
