BANJA LUKA, MAY 13 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Prime Minister Radovan Višković says he is confident there are enough patriotically oriented opposition MPs in the Republika Srpska National Assembly who will support the veto of the Serb Member and Chairwoman of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović.
Višković says he does not believe in the scenario being speculated about in the media – that Serb MPs might vote in favour of the conclusions of BiH Presidency members Denis Bećirović and Željko Komšić, despite the signed platform for joint activities between the opposition “Troika” from Srpska and the “Troika” from the Federation of BiH /FBiH/.
"I am certain that the Republika Srpska National Assembly has a sufficient number of MPs from the opposition who are patriots and cannot vote against the interests of Republika Srpska," Višković told the press in Banja Luka.
He added that opposition party leaders in Srpska who signed the platform with the FBiH “Troika” fell into a trap.
As the prime minister and a member of the Serb people, Višković says he believes that even opposition MPs have enough patriotic sentiment and cannot put up with such a “heavy label” against themselves, their families, and future generations.
Željka Cvijanović, the Serb Member and Chairwoman of the BiH Presidency, was outvoted at a Presidency session, during which members Denis Bećirović and Željko Komšić adopted a series of controversial conclusions. Among them was a call for EUFOR to assist law enforcement agencies in arresting officials of Republika Srpska.
After Cvijanović declared at the session that she would invoke a veto, claiming the conclusions were harmful to the vital interests of Republika Srpska, the two Presidency members from FBiH reportedly expressed hope that the new coalition between the “Troikas” from Srpska and FBiH would result in the opposition rejecting her veto before the National Assembly, according to Glas Srpske.
