BANJA LUKA, APRIL 23 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Prime Minister Radovan Višković has said today in Banja Luka that freedom is a sacred word for the Serb people, who are still fighting to be free.
"It is known fact how Serbs suffered in World War II in these areas. Almost nothing has changed since then," Višković told the press, after the wreaths were laid at the Memorial to the Fallen Soldiers of the Second World War, on the occasion of marking the City Day and 80 years since the liberation of Banja Luka.
He pointed out that those who gave their lives for the freedom of the Serb people must not be forgotten.
"We created Republika Srpska in the Defensive-Patriotic War, thus brought freedom. Fascism has always been evil and it will remain so for the Serb people," Višković added.
He congratulated the Banja Luka residents on City Day and 80 years since liberation from fascism.
Delegations of the Republika Srpska institutions and Banja Luka City, as well as numerous organisations and associations, today laid wreaths at the Memorial to the Fallen Soldiers of the Second World War in Banja Luka, on the occasion of marking the City Day and 80 years since liberation from fascism.
Previously, wreaths were laid at the memorials in several city locations where honour was paid to the heroes who, fighting for freedom, gave their lives.
A formal gathering will be held tonight in the Banski Dvor Cultural Centre.
Banja Luka is celebrating the Day in memory of April 22, 1945, when it was liberated in World War II.
