BANJA LIKA, JUNE 28 /SRNA/ - A few days after the Ustasha slaughter of Serbs in Draculić, Šargovac and Motike, the same sinister fate happened to their neighbors in Banja Luka Milakovići, Miloševići and Piskavac, where the Ustasha did not select their victims by the age nor by gender, but killed them one by one, most often from machine guns.
USTASHAS FROM IVANJSKA BETRAYED AND SLAUGHTERED THEIR SERB NEIGBORS
About crimes in Piskavica, Milakovići and Miloševići, Lazar Lukajić was told by older people who remember these events. Ustashas from Ivanjska, where domestic Ustashas gathered as well, before departure in the massacre in the neighboring villages, they had as a reinforcement of the domestic and German military units. They slaughtered their neighbor in Serbian hamlets in order. Thus, 562 locals, including 77 children, were killed in the most merciless manner.
The main, and often the only tormentors and the slaughters of Serbs in Piskavica were Ustashas from Ivanjska - both in civilian clothes and in military uniforms.
These were peasants Catholics who knew the neighboring villages. They knew all the men, all their children, their houses, auxiliary rooms, surroundings, roads, bays, streams and foresters between and around the houses. There grew up together with their Serb neighbors.
The Ustashas from Ivanjska pointed Germans, defenders and Ustashas from outside to Serb houses like the dogs seekers point the game hunters. According to witnesses, the Ustashas were mostly adults, middle-aged, and even older people.
They are easily, quickly and easier than the tracker dogs, they arrived, alone or with the defenders and Germans, to Serb houses. They often called the Serbs by the name to leave the house with their children, with the excuse of the inspection, and then killed and massacred them.
At the hamlet of Milosevići, they slaughtered 54 inhabitants, of which 17 were burned in Jovan Milošević's house. All residents, regardless of age, and old men, and women, and children, who reached the hands of the Ustasha's executioners, were slaughtered.
THEY USED MACHINE GUN IN THE SLAUGHTER
In the village of Piskavica, the Ustashas killed 126 people on the feast of the Three Hierarchs, February 12, 1942. Arriving from Banja Luka by train, the Ustashas got off at the Ivanjska railway station, formed a line, and headed into the village, killing everyone they encountered on the road or in their homes.
They did not slaughter and kill the Serbs in these villages with axes, crowbars, and other hard objects as in Drakulić, Šargovac, and Motike, but rather killed them with firearms, mostly machine guns.
The village of Milakovići had about 60 households in 1942. It is located at the end of Ivanjska /today's Potkozarje/ towards Piskavica. At that time, Ivanjska had the largest population of Croats, while Milakovići had always been inhabited by only Serbs and they always had good neighborly relations. But that changed on February 12, 1942. /to be continued/
