BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 2 /SRNA/ - The Speaker of the Republika Srpska National Assembly, Nenad Stevandić, stated that it is a big lie that the proposed government of Srpska is illegal, that the president of Srpska is not Milorad Dodik, and that at the time of nominating the prime minister-designate, he did not have the right to do so.
"That is a big lie and a defeat for every person who holds the citizenship of Republika Srpska. Lies and unbelievable claims have been spread here. You all saw who proposed /the candidate/ and when," Stevandić said during a debate at a special session of the National Assembly on the election of the new government of Srpska.
He emphasized that, according to all the laws of Republika Srpska and BiH, Dodik legally nominated the prime minister-designate for the formation of the new government.
"Even under the Constitution of BiH and the rulings of their court, the nomination is legal. What you said at a press conference, that the nomination is not legal, is untrue," Stevandić stressed, addressing the opposition MPs.
Stevandić said that, for the representatives of the Republika Srpska authorities, the current political situation represents the Battle of Stalingrad for Srpska, and that Srpska will prevail.
During the debate, opposition MPs argued that "Dodik is not the president" and that the new government "will not have legitimacy".
In the National Assembly of Srpska, a regular recess was called until 16:30.
