PALE, OCTOBER 15 /SRNA/ – Aco Stanišić, a deputy to the Republika Srpska National Assembly, told SRNA that pronouncing a new Srpska constitution would be a natural continuation of the national policy pursued by President Milorad Dodik and a responsible approach towards Pale, which would gain the place it deserves in history through this process.

Stanišić stressed that Pale would become the seat of the government, not merely in name, but through the highest legal act, the Constitution of Republika Srpska.

“We must be aware that there will probably be certain obstacles aimed at preventing this process from being completed, but I am confident that the SNSD will persevere in this legal battle and that Pale will officially be granted the status of the seat of government,” Stanišić added.

He explained that a two-thirds majority in the Republika Srpska National is required to complete the process of pronouncing the new constitution and expressed confidence that the representatives elected by the citizens would demonstrate unity.

“I hope that all Republika Srpska-based parties with Serb national prefix will stand together and jointly demonstrate that this is an issue on which we must be united,” Stanišić said.

The importance of Pale, as Stanišić says, as the seat of the government is not merely symbolic and should be accompanied by continued investment.

“Pale will also feel the financial benefits that will follow, along with everything that comes with them, including the President’s Office in the town hall and everything this people have deserved, both during and after the war, having borne an enormous burden in the creation of Republika Srpska,” Stanišić concluded.

President Milorad Dodik stated that the plan was to proclaim the new Republika Srpska Constitution on January 9, which will be modern, respect the constituent status of the peoples, and prevent abuses in the functioning of Srpska.

Among other things, he noted that the new Constitution would designate Banja Luka as the capital of Republika Srpska and Pale as its seat of the government.
