SERB PEOPLE INDIVISIBLE IN CONTINUOUS STRUGGLE FOR UNITY AND FREEDOM

ZVORNIK/MALI ZVORNIK, SEPTEMBER 15 /SRNA/ - The Serb people are indivisible, speak the same Serbian language, share the same culture and have always fought for freedom, young people from Zvornik and Mali Zvornik said today at a gathering on the King Aleksandar I Karađorđević Bridge marking Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day.

Stefan Prodanović, a representative of young people from Zvornik, said that the meeting on this bridge, which connects the two local communities across the Drina River, carries special symbolism as a reminder of the breakthrough of the Salonika Front, a symbol of Serbian freedom.

"The Drina separates us only geographically, while our history, struggle for freedom, culture and our flag unite us," Prodanović said.

He stressed that joining the flags of Republika Srpska and Serbia in the middle of the King's Bridge is just one small indication of how closely the Serbs from Republika Srpska and Serbia are connected.

Srđan Jovanović, a representative of the Mali Zvornik Tourist Organisation, said that the gathering on the bridge has become a tradition.

"The gathering on the bridge symbolises the unity of the Serb people, confirmed by the meeting and joining of the flags, showing that the Drina does not divide us because we are one people with a genuine love for our homelands, which will endure forever," Jovanović said.

The young people also visited the underground town of the Karađorđević dynasty, located near the bridge.

The Zvornik National Library and Museum Collection organised an exhibition titled "Russian Pages of Our History" to mark Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day.

The exhibition features fragments about Zvornik from books available through the virtual reading room of the Russian State Library, which is accessible at the Zvornik National Library.

Librarian Željko Nikolić told SRNA that the aim of the exhibition is to present Zvornik and its past through historical records from the collections of the Russian State Library and highlight the importance of preserving historical and cultural heritage.

"The exhibition also aims to encourage citizens to further explore the history of our region through the use of the Virtual Reading Room of the Russian State Library," Nikolić said.

The exhibition will be open for the next seven days.
