ROMIĆ: NEW CONSTITUTION AS PRODUCT OF TOP SOCIAL CONSENSUS

BANJA LUKA, MARCH 31 /SRNA/ - The new Republika Srpska constitution is being adopted as a product of the top social consensus, said the advisor to the president of Srpska, Marko Romić.

Romić has pointed out that one of the expert discussions will be held at the Republika Srpska Academy of Sciences and Arts.

"We want everyone to get involved as it concerns all of us," said Romić.

He states the new constitution will preserve Srpska's autonomy according to the Dayton Peace Agreement.

"This is an attempt to stay within the Dayton-based BiH," Romić said.

He has pointed out that the Srpska Constitution was amended unconstitutionally by high representatives, thus the new constitution will protect the Dayton framework and Srpska's competences.

"The Bonn Declarations do not give any rights for anyone to amend the Constitution, nowhere is it mentioned that the high representative is entitled to amend the Constitution," Romić told RTRS.

He has pointed out that the Srpska National Assembly is the only entitled to adopt a new constitution amended and adopted according to procedure.
