REPUBLIKA SRPSKA FOUNDED ON DETERMINATION THAT CRIME SUCH AS STARI BROD ONE NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN

EAST SARAJEVO, MARCH 22 /SRNA/ - Serb Member and Chairwoman of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, has pointed out that Republika Srpska was founded on Serb people’s determination that crimes like the Stari Brod on the Drina never happen again.

"With sadness and reverence, we today remember more than six thousand Serbs killed in Stari Brod on the Drina near Višegrad by members of the Ustasha Black Legion under the command of the criminal Jure Francetić," said Cvijanović.

She has pointed out that this is one of the biggest individual crimes as part of the genocide against the Serb people carried out by the Independent State of Croatia, announced from the Office of the Chairman of the Presidency.

"Republika Srpska was founded on Serb people’s determination that crimes like the Stari Brod on the Drina never happen again. As long as we exist, we have a duty to remember our compatriots who suffered martyrdom. May they have eternal glory and may it never happen again to anyone," said Cvijanović.

Memorial service was held today in Stari Brod near Višegrad to commemorate the 83rd anniversary of the crime against more than 6,000 Serbs who were killed by members of the infamous Black Legion of Jure Francetić.
