OSTOJIĆ: FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS, ONE GOAL HAS REMAINED THE SAME - REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BIJELJINA, JUNE 13 /SRNA/ - Aleksandar Ostojić, head of the SNSD club in the Bijeljina City Assembly, said that one of the most important messages from the panel discussion "Republika Srpska - Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow", held in Bijeljina, was the fact that despite numerous pressures, Republika Srpska has maintained a clear political direction for more than two decades.

Ostojić said another key message was that Republika Srpska must still demonstrate sufficient political maturity when dealing with issues that transcend day-to-day politics.

"If only we, as a people, knew how to unite when it is truly necessary, when it comes to matters that are not politics but the national interest, there would be no limit to what we could achieve," Ostojić stressed.

He added that he was particularly impressed by the consistency of the policies advocated for years by SNSD President Milorad Dodik.

"At the panel, we had the opportunity to listen to a man who has spent more than 20 years working on one thing, and one thing only - Republika Srpska, the state of the Serb people. During that period there were mistakes, difficult decisions and great pressures, but the essence of the politics remained the same," Ostojić stressed in a statement.

He reminded that throughout its existence, Republika Srpska has faced numerous political challenges and various forms of international pressure, but that today it is institutionally stable, development-oriented and increasingly connected with the region and the world.

"More than thirty years later, Republika Srpska is alive, developing, building new infrastructure, connecting with others and engaging with all major global actors. That did not happen on its own, but as a result of a policy that knew what it wanted and where it was going," Ostojić stated.

He assessed that discussions such as this one are important because they provide an opportunity to reflect on past experiences and to speak more clearly about the challenges and goals facing Republika Srpska in the years ahead.
