NO DANGER FROM THE ĆEHOTINA RIVER, DRINA POSES POTENTIAL RISK

FOČA, JANUARY 6 /SRNA/ - There is no danger of the Ćehotina River overflowing in Foča, but the Drina River poses a potential risk because the turbines at the "Mratinje" Hydropower Plant on the Piva River were put back into operation this morning, Foča Mayor Milan Vukadinović, who is also the head of the Crisis Management Headquarters, told SRNA.

"We are in contact with the Piva Hydropower Plant and have asked them to suspend the operation of the turbines," Vukadinović said.

He stated that work has continued on reinforcing the embankment in the Donje Polje settlement, which prevented flooding in that part of Foča last night.

"We are in contact with the Republic Civil Protection Administration and the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska," Vukadinović added.
