BANJA LUKA, MAY 21 /SRNA/ - The Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Savo Minić has stated today that the government aims to ensure that the youngest generations receive a quality education and are able to keep pace with modern trends, technologies and science.

Attending the opening of the 14th Science Festival at the Campus of the University of Banja Luka, Minić said the event is designed to bring practical knowledge and experiments closer to primary and secondary school students, as well as to those actively engaged in scientific work.

"We want to keep pace with the modern world", Minić told reporters, noting that he was welcomed at the entrance of the sports hall on the campus by the robot Robi.

Minić stressed that the Government of Republika Srpska will invest around BAM 3.5 million in the campus infrastructure, adding that the construction of a science and technology park is also planned, which is expected to become a center of science and education over the next two years.

Minić toured exhibition stands at the festival and, at the booth of the Institute of Public Health of Republika Srpska, took part in an experiment called "hand in flames".

This year’s festival is being held at two locations - the University City campus and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Banja Luka, where visitors will have the opportunity to visit a planetarium, aquarium and terrarium.

More than 20 faculties from the universities of Banja Luka and Istočno Sarajevo, the Institute for Genetic Resources, the Public Health Institute of Republika Srpska, the Police Training Administration of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as several secondary schools, are presenting at this year's festival.
