BANJA LUKA, MAY 12 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić announced that he was pleased by the news from his hometown Šamac that the Milica Babić-Andrić Memorial House has been nominated for the prestigious international Živa Award, one of the most important recognitions in the field of museology and preservation of cultural heritage in Slavic countries.

"This nomination represents great recognition for the cultural heritage of Republika Srpska," Minić posted on X.

The Milica Babić-Andrić Memorial House, the wife of Serbian Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić, was opened in April 2023. Visitors there can learn about the life and work of the first professional costume designer in Serbia and Yugoslavia.

The memorial house's collections have been enriched with materials provided by the Museum of the City of Belgrade, the National Theatre Belgrade, and the Museum of Theatre Arts of Serbia.

A pioneer of modern costume design, Milica Babić designed stage costumes for around 300 theatre, opera, and ballet performances between 1930 and 1964 at the National Theatre Belgrade and other Yugoslav theatres.
