BANJA LUKA, JULY 6 /SRNA/ - The premises of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska now feature the lithograph "Victory" from 1971, which Russian President Vladimir Putin presented to the Speaker of the National Assembly Nenad Stevandić on May 9 in Moscow, during the commemoration of the shared victory over fascism.
The lithograph, which now hangs in the Oval Hall of the National Assembly together with Putin's dedication, was created in 1971 by the artistic group of the Mitrofan Grekov Studio, based on the famous painting "Victory" by Pyotr Krivonogov /1910–1967/, a Soviet battle painter, the National Assembly of Republika Srpska said in a statement.
Krivonogov joined the Mitrofan Grekov Studio in 1940, served throughout the Great Patriotic War, and witnessed victory in Berlin.
In the first days after the war, he created sketches that formed the basis for the monumental painting "Victory," the artist's most famous work, measuring four by 2.4 metres.
