EARTHQUAKE DEATH TOLL RISES TO 4,561

CARACAS, JULY 13 /SRNA/ - The death toll from the earthquake in Venezuela has risen to 4,561, lawmaker Jorge Rodríguez said today.

A total of 16,740 people were injured in the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, and that figure remains unchanged.

Around 17,907 people have been left homeless.

Earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale struck on June 24, 39 seconds apart, and hit the capital Caracas and the coastal area of La Guaira the hardest.
