BELGRADE, JULY 5 /SRNA/ – Chair of the Association of Serbs from the Region Miodrag Linta says it is of great importance to convey the truth about the deaths of 15 Serb civilians in the Bratunac village of Zagoni and 24 Serb civilians and soldiers in the Srebrenica village of Krnjići, who were killed by Muslim forces 34 years ago, noting that no one has been held accountable for those crimes.
He said that on July 5, 1992, Muslim formations from Srebrenica and nearby villages attacked Zagoni and Krnjići, carrying out a horrific massacre of Serb civilians who were either in their homes or working in their fields.
"The monstrous crime against Serbs in Zagoni and Krnjići, as well as all the other crimes committed in Serb-populated villages and hamlets of the Central Podrinje and Birač region, confirms the indisputable fact that the intention of the so-called Army of BiH was to destroy the Serb people," Linta said.
He added that attacks on Zagoni continued until St. Peter's Day in 1992, announced the Association of Serbs from the Region.
Linta recalled that no one has so far been held accountable for the crimes against civilians in Zagoni and Krnjići, nor for the numerous mass crimes committed against Serbs in the Central and Birač region by Muslim forces from Srebrenica under the command of Naser Orić.
"For that reason, the Serb people does not trust the Prosecutor's Office and the Court of BiH. It is absolutely clear that this is an ethnically motivated judiciary whose task is to uphold the most shameless falsehood that the Serbs are supposedly the aggressors and criminals, while the Bosniaks are supposedly the liberators and the only victims," Linta said.
