BANJA LUKA, MAY 19 /SRNA/ - Thank you to Zijad Krnjić, the man who does not allow us to forget what it means for Srpska to be in BiH, said Radovan Kovačević, a Serb member of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.
"Nevertheless, common sense will prevail in the end. Republika Srpska will prevail. Sooner or later!" Kovačević said, commenting on the partial collapse of the old bridge in Gradiška and the temporary closure of the busiest border crossing in Republika Srpska and BiH.
A partial collapse of the concrete structure and railing occurred overnight on the bridge over the Sava River in Gradiška, resulting in a complete suspension of cross-border traffic for all vehicles and pedestrians.
The newly built border crossing and bridge, connecting BiH with the EU /Croatia/ along the country’s busiest road route, worth 100 million Euros, have been ready for use since December of last year, but Zijad Krnjić, a member of the Management Board of the Indirect Taxation Authority from the Federation of BiH, has repeatedly prevented their opening for exclusively political reasons.
Krnjić’s blockade has caused major economic losses for Republika Srpska and BiH, as passengers and freight traffic have been forced to use the already overburdened old crossing.
Krnjić has already refused five times to give consent to amendments to internal regulations necessary for the opening of the new border crossing in Gradiška.
