ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, JULY 23 /SRNA/ – Head of the Special Police Brigade Veterans Association Željko Janković sas that Kozara has always been and remains a Serb guard and a Serb bastion and that there is no place there for various speculators and their shady plans.

"During the past Defensive-Patriotic War, together with members of the Republika Srpska Army, we bled for every hill and every path on this mountain, therefore we will not allow in peacetime what no one was able to take from us during the war to be handed over," Janković said in a SRNA statement regarding a letter from a company whose name is associated with a well-known business group from Arab countries, expressing interest in purchasing the Monument Hotel at Mrakovica.

He stressed that Kozara is a strategic bastion of Krajina and the entire Republika Srpska, therefore the sale of any piece of land to suspicious actors represents a direct threat to national security.

The Serb tricolor, he says, flies over Kozara and it will remain so, regardless of how many zeros someone writes in their offer.

"Special units have always been the first to defend Srpska and its people; today's defence of Kozara is a fight for the word that will be heard in our National Park. We call for unity and solidarity among all soldiers, because Kozara is our dividing line between national pride and betrayal," Janković said.

He stresses there is no amount of money that can buy the peace of the people of Krajina if they feel that someone is secretly meddling in their home and rewriting their history.

"Certainly, we will not silently watch strategic positions on Kozara being handed over to companies without a face and address, while plans for a unitary BiH are being planned in Sarajevo. The soldiers are the guarantors of the survival of Srpska, and Kozara is the heart of that defence – the heart is not sold and the heart is not traded," Janković said, adding that they are demanding that the entity institutions declare the Monument Hotel an asset of special importance and prevent the entry of suspicious capital.

He adds that every veteran in Republika Srpska is looking toward Prijedor and Kozara today, stressing that no one must show weakness where the Serb people endured some of the worst horrors.

"Because whoever controls the resources on Kozara controls the future of this, as well as every other part of Srpska. We veterans will not hand that control over to anyone," Janković said.
