VIŠEGRAD, JUNE 26 /SRNA/ – The President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik sang today with his friend Rod Blagojevich, an American politician of Serbian origin, the most sorrowful and most beautiful Serbian song, “Tamo daleko,” which he described as both a vow and a homeland within the soul.
Dodik emphasized that every Serb knows this song, wherever they live, whatever they do, in whichever corner of the world they may find themselves.
“‘Tamo daleko’ is not just a song—it is a vow, a tear in the voice, a homeland in the soul. It is a verse for those who died, for those who remained, and for us who remember,” Dodik wrote on the social network X.
He stated that a nation that preserves its songs knows how to preserve its freedom.
“Tamo daleko… but always in the heart. Together with my friend Rod Blagojevich, I sang the saddest and most beautiful Serbian song,” the president of Srpska added.
President Dodik, together with Blagojevich, the former governor of Illinois, visited Višegrad today and then the memorial complex in Stari Brod, where they laid wreaths and paid tribute to the Serbs who perished during World War II.
Blagojevich arrived in Republika Srpska on June 22 at the invitation of President Milorad Dodik.
