SREBRENICA, OCTOBER 22 /SRNA/ - Branimir Kojić, president of the Organization of Families of Captured and Fallen Soldiers and Missing Civilians of Srebrenica, believes that the writing of derogatory terms on the flag of Republika Srpska was a well-planned attack by certain radical organizations that publicly expressed support for the perpetrator, Nedim Karčić.

Kojić pointed out that Nihad Aličković, leader of Sarajevo's Anti-Dayton Movement, was at the forefront of these actions. He described Aličković as a proven Serb-hater who takes every opportunity to attack anything Serbian, noting that he is also known to the public as a friend of Naser Orić and as someone who once called on Bosniaks to arm themselves.

"He has gone a step further by filing a criminal complaint against Istočno Sarajevo Mayor LJubiša Ćosić and Jovan Katić, mayor of Istočno Novo Sarajevo, as well as against unidentified individuals over the painting of the flag in Republika Srpska, imagining that he and people like him can decide who can paint the flag and where, even though our loved ones gave their lives for that flag," Kojić told SRNA.

He noted that Aličković and his movement were known to have organized a fundraising campaign to pay fines imposed on fundamentalists who smashed the plaque at Vraca some time ago. He also pointed to Aličković's role in inciting numerous protests in Sarajevo, for which, as the Federation media reported at the time, he was well paid by certain non-governmental organizations and foreign actors.

Kojić believes that the Court of BiH and the Prosecutor's Office of BiH should address those who, in this way, incite conflict and heighten interethnic tensions.

He reminded that Aličković had also promoted attacks on the Manja bakery chain and a boycott of its products, as well as openly rejoicing daily over physical attacks on the bakeries themselves.

"What message is Aličković trying to send through his actions? That violence against the Serb people and the symbols of Republika Srpska is permitted and normal?" Kojić asked.

Kojić stressed that incitement to violence is punishable by law and called on the Court and Prosecutor's Office to prosecute Aličković and all those who support people committing criminal offenses, particularly if they are prepared to enter the territory of another entity and deliberately incite religious, racial and national intolerance, as Nedim Karčić did.

On Tuesday, October 20, an offensive inscription reading "genocide perpetrators" appeared on a mural of the Serbian tricolor in Istočno Novo Sarajevo.

The Istočno Sarajevo Police Administration confirmed this morning that a man identified by the initials N.K. had been released after being questioned on suspicion of writing the offensive inscription "genocide perpetrators" on the mural of the Serbian tricolor in Istočno Novo Sarajevo.
