NO ONE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR KILLING 32 PODRAVANJE RESIDENTS AND ERASURING IT FROM THE FACE OF THE EARTH

SREBRENICA, SEPTEMBER 24 /SRNA/ - On September 24, 1992, Muslim forces killed 32 residents of the village of Podravanje near Srebrenica, almost completely erasing the village from the face of the Earth, which was a plan for all Serb-populated villages in the area. Branimir Kojić, the head of the Organisation of Families of Captured and Fallen Soldiers and Missing Civilians of Srebrenica, told SRNA.

"That is the best indication of what was intended for Serbs in these areas," Kojić said.

He noted that, in a single day, all 120 houses in the village were burned down and 32 of its residents were killed, out of a total of 60 people from Podravanje who were killed during the war.

He pointed out that more than half of the victims were civilians and that, to this day, no one has been held accountable for the crimes committed in the village.

"None of this is sufficient for the courts and prosecutor's office, both international and those in this dysfunctional BiH system, to prosecute those responsible and thereby at least somewhat ease the pain of Serb families, while also justifying the enormous salaries they receive from taxpayers," Kojić said.

He stressed that it is a sacred duty to speak about these events, bear witness to them, and teach younger generations that they must not trust their neighbours, because this and many other crimes were committed by descendants of those who slaughtered Serbs during World War II.
