SREBRENICA, NOVEMBER 5 /SRNA/ - Glođansko Brdo near Zvornik testifies to brutality and crime beyond the limits of human reason as 126 Serb soldiers were brutally killed there, some of whom were crucified and nailed to trees, Head of the Organisation of Families of Captured, Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians of Srebrenica, Branimir Kojić told SRNA.
Kojić recalled that on November 6, 1992, the Republika Srpska Army solders were killed in that place near Zvornik, many of whom were previously captured, tortured, tied to tree trunks with barbed wire, crucified and nailed to oak trees.
"Their bodies bore witness to brutality that a normal human mind can hardly imagine," Kojić said.
Kojić emphasized that such atrocities should not be swept under the carpet, nor should the crime against the captured be relativized or justified by any military goals.
The extent of that crime, he reminded, is also told by the autopsy findings by Professor Dr. Zoran Stanković, who documented the horrific injuries and mutilations of the bodies of the murdered, which read that some victims were found without a heart.
"These are testimonies of a crime that requires truth and responsibility," said Kojić, who considers it unacceptable that, when it comes to crimes against Serbs in Podrinje, the name of Naser Orić and the question of his responsibility have been avoided for years.
He pointed out that Orić was not a casual observer of war events in Srebrenica, but the commander of the military leadership at the time, and that it is therefore completely legitimate and necessary to ask the question of what he knew about the crime on Glođanska brdo, who planned and organised operations, issued orders and was responsible for the treatment of war prisoners.
"If there is a will to investigate every crime, then there must also be a will to investigate the responsibility of the Srebrenica command at the time," Kojić said.
He pointed out that even after 34 years, the question of who was responsible for this crime is still being asked, that the families are still waiting for justice, and that the search for the nine missing persons is still ongoing.
"I'm not looking for anyone's revenge. I'm looking for the truth, the naming of those responsible and justice, to determine who ordered, participated, who knew and avoided responsibility all these years," emphasized Kojić.
He emphasized that he will not agree to forgetfulness and silence because if no one is held accountable for the killing, torture and mutilation of 126 people even after 34 years, then it is not only a defeat of justice, it is a shame of the justice system.
"Our victims are not numbers. They had names, families and the right to live. They deserve the truth, a dignified memory and justice," concluded Kojić.
On Glođanski Brdo, at dawn on November 6, 1992, members of the Šekovići and Zvornik brigades of the Republika Srpska Army were brutally murdered. No one has yet been held accountable for this crime.
A memorial plaque with the inscription "126 Republika Srpska Army soldiers were killed here" was placed on several occasions at the executiom site, but each time it was destroyed by unknown persons.
