PRNJAVOR, MAY 27 /SRNA/ – Serb BiH Presidency member Željka Cvijanović says that Republika Srpska supports the end of American backing for nation-building activities abroad, adding that no one will ever again intervene in BiH.
"The end of support for activities aimed at building other people's states means that we will have to make decisions ourselves, and when you have to make decisions yourself, that means everyone must reach an agreement," Cvijanović said.
Although politicians in Sarajevo often say that agreement in BiH is impossible and that someone will intervene again, Cvijanović stated that no one will intervene anymore.
"That should be clear to everyone. It is clear to us, and we have prepared well for this period," Cvijanović told the press in Prnjavor.
She noted that SNSD leader Milorad Dodik had previously spoken about a time coming in which there would no longer be international interventionism of the kind seen in BiH, and that the concept of building other nations or states would come to an end.
"Many people looked at him with disbelief at the time, but this is exactly that," Cvijanović said.
She added that a US State Department report, which states that on the Western Balkans "the era of US-led nation-building has passed," clearly outlines Washington's priorities regarding its foreign policy approach to the region.
"The document was sent to Congress to provide a better understanding of the guidelines and priorities. Economic priorities dominate, along with the presence of American investors, because the United States wants to show that it can be present here in a different way than was previously the case," Cvijanović said.
She added that the United States also wants peace and stability in BiH in order to implement projects, but also to put its own house in order.
"The house within BiH is rather disorganised precisely because of these interventions," Cvijanović stressed.
