PRIŠTINA, NOVEMBER 2 /SRNA/ - Miljojko Đorđević from northern Kosovska Mitrovica pleaded not guilty today to war crimes against civilians with which he has been charged by the Special Prosecutor's Office in Priština.
The preliminary hearing in the case was held today before the Special Department of the Priština Court of General Jurisdiction.
On October 11, 2026, the Special Prosecutor's Office in Priština indicted Miljojko Đorđević, a former commander of a police unit in the municipality of Zvečan, on suspicion of committing alleged war crimes against the civilian population in 1998 and 1999.
His lawyer, Predrag Miljković, said his client is charged on the basis of both individual and command responsibility, stressing that Đorđević never had a command role in the police.
Miljković noted that at today's hearing, Đorđević pleaded not guilty on all three counts of the indictment brought against him by the Special Prosecutor's Office.
At today's hearing, the lawyer objected that the defense had not been given photocopies of the original documents in Albanian, namely witness statements, which he said is very important because of the witnesses' signatures and the signatures on the statements identifying the defendant, Kosovo Online reported.
Miljojko Đorđević was arrested on May 15 in northern Kosovska Mitrovica.
