SERBS' DIFFICULT POSITION PRESENTED TO EU OFFICE CHIEF

BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 2 /SRNA/ - Head of the Serb List parliamentary group Igor Simić and his deputy Srđan Popović today pointed out the difficult position of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija in talks with the EU Special Representative in Priština, Dirk Schuebel.

Simić and Popović expressed confidence that particular attention would be devoted to this issue in the upcoming European Commission progress report on Priština, Serb List said.

They said they expect the report to also address the many challenges facing the Serb people, as well as the need for stronger engagement by institutions and international representatives in protecting the basic human, civil and political rights of Serbs.

"Serb List remains committed to constructive political action, cooperation with EU representatives and consistent representation of the interests of the Serb people, while insisting that every reform and political process must respect the rights, needs and legitimate interests of Serbs," Serb List said.
