CONGRESSWOMAN MALOY WRITES TO OFAC TO INVESTIGATE SCHMIDT’S INTERFERENCE IN DEMOCRATIC PROCESSES IN SRPSKA

WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 10 /SRNA/ – US Congresswoman Celeste Maloy has sent a letter to the US Office of Foreign Assets Control /OFAC/, requesting the investigation of Christian Schmidt and the Central Election Commission /CEC/ of BiH's interference in democratic processes in Republika Srpska, drawing attention to the possibility that BiH state level officials may have participated in the process of removing the legitimately elected president Milorad Dodik.

"I am writing to you regarding information recently submitted to OFAC concerning the activities of Christian Schmidt and the CEC in connection with the removal of the democratically elected president of Republika Srpska," Maloy stated in the letter, which was obtained by the news foundation Daily Caller.

Maloy, a Republican congresswoman, emphasized that, according to information available to her, OFAC had received materials alleging that the Schmidt and the CEC's activities could be characterized as interference in the democratic process in Republika Srpska.

In her letter dated August 31, she requested that OFAC conduct a detailed review of the materials, adding that she is awaiting the results of the investigation.
