BIJELJINA MAYOR SUSPECTED OF ABUSE OF OFFICE

BIJELJINA, MAY 14 /SRNA/ – Ljubiša Petrović, the Mayor of Bijeljina, is suspected of abuse of office involving the payment of more than BAM 100,000 contrary to the city’s legal acts, thus a report has been submitted against him to the District Public Prosecutor’s Office Bijeljina.

The Bijeljina Police Administration mentioned only the initials of the suspect and said that the report on criminal offense was filed on Monday, May 11.

The reported individual is suspected of having, during 2025, abused his official position and, contrary to the legal acts of the City of Bijeljina, issued decisions on the payment of financial assistance to residents in a state of extraordinary social need without previously conducting procedures in accordance with applicable regulations and other general acts of the city.

"Through such actions, more than BAM 100,000 was paid out to residents," the statement said.

Petrović is charged with the criminal offense of abuse of official position or authority.
