BELGRADE, OCTOBER 30 /SRNA/ - The Republika Srpska Institute of Statistics presented its publications at the International Belgrade Book Fair, the most important of which is the "Statistical Yearbook", a kind of statistical encyclopedia.

Director of the Republika Srpska Institute of Statistics Darko Milunović told SRNA that the institute conducts more than 240 different surveys and has more than 500 publications, but that the four key ones were presented today, including "Cities and Municipalities of Republika Srpska", "This Is Republika Srpska" and "Women and Men in Republika Srpska".

He said this 17th edition of the "Statistical Yearbook" contains all the 2024 data on the economy, social trends, demographics, construction and tourism, and announced that a new edition with data for 2025 will be published at the end of November.

In the publication "Cities and Municipalities of Republika Srpska", the comparisons of the price per square meter of housing, average salaries and population density are of particular interest.

Milunović said it is interesting that Teslić is the town with the most tourists, thanks to the Vrućica Spa, even though Banja Luka, Trebinje or Istočno Sarajevo, because of Jahorina, were expected to top the list.

He said the highest salaries are in municipalities with thermal power plants, such as Stanari, Ugljevik and Gacko, with Banja Luka also near the top.

Milunović said that, according to statistics, the population of Republika Srpska is concentrated in cities, where 70 percent of the population lives, while 30 percent live in some fifty municipalities.

Republika Srpska, he said, records growth in tourism year after year, so this year will surpass previous ones, while GDP has grown continuously for more than five years. The labor market indicators are also positive, with wages rising faster than prices, and the only declines are in industrial production, while imports are rising.

Velimir Savić, editor of the publications "This Is Republika Srpska" and "Women and Men in Republika Srpska", told SRNA that these are pocket-sized booklets, but packed with data and ideal as gifts.

Savić said "This Is Republika Srpska" offers instant access to all the key facts about social, political, cultural and sports life, as well as various geographical curiosities. For this edition, Savić wrote an essay about Banja Luka.

He said the publication "Women and Men in Republika Srpska", which looks at the relationship between the genders, is also published in English.

Savić pointed out that life expectancy for both women and men is rising in Republika Srpska, while women still participate less in politics, but in sectors such as healthcare, the ratio is 10 women to one man.
