PRIŠTINA, AUGUST 19 /SRNA/ - Those who abused Nenad Rašković must face justice, Igor Simić, a member of the Presidency of the Serb List, said in response to the recommendation by the so-called Police Inspectorate that two police officers be suspended over the abuse of Rašković.

"Suspension is not enough; it is the first step. Those responsible must stand trial because this involved torture, psychological and physical abuse, inflicting serious bodily injuries, extracting a confession…" Simić wrote on Instagram.

He added that those who, as he put it, attempted to cover up the crime with lies should also be held accountable.

The Police Inspectorate has recommended that the so-called Kosovo Police suspend two officers from the Regional Police Directorate in North Mitrovica over suspected abuse in the course of their official duties or the exercise of public authority, in connection with an incident in which Nenad Rašković, a Serb from the village of Dren, sustained serious injuries.

Serb Nenad Rašković from the village of Dren sustained serious injuries on August 11 after, as he said, he was beaten by Kosovo police officers.

He said that three police officers dragged him out of his family home, tied him to a tree, and beat him, demanding that he hand over a rifle that he does not have.

Rašković was admitted to the Kosovska Mitrovica Clinical Hospital Center, but due to the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to the Clinical Center of Serbia in Belgrade for treatment.
