SERBIA WILL NOT TAKE LESSONS FROM THOSE WHO REFUSE TO FACE THEIR OWN PAST

BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 7 /SRNA/ - Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić told Elmedin Konaković that Serbia would accept neither selective justice nor moral lectures from those who persistently refuse to face their own past.

After Konaković announced that he would reduce relations with Serbia to a minimum, Đurić said that Elmedin Konaković's hypocrisy and lack of shame know no bounds.

He stressed that moral lectures to Serbia and its President Aleksandar Vučić are being delivered by a man who came of age politically in a party and milieu that for years celebrated Rasim Delić, who was convicted in a final judgment of crimes committed against captured Serbs by members of the "El Mujahideen" detachment, as well as others who killed, slaughtered and sought to wipe out the Serb people.

"Instead of poisoning the discourse and hurling insults, Konaković should first name the Serb victims, condemn the crimes committed against them, and explain why convicted commanders are still celebrated in Sarajevo," Đurić stressed.

Đurić said that Konaković and those like him are precisely the biggest opponents of any genuine reconciliation: they demand that Serbs renounce every one of their victims, while remaining silent about their own crimes and portraying their own convicts as heroes.

Đurić recalled that Vučić went to Srebrenica, paid his respects to the victims, and extended a hand of reconciliation, only to be attacked by an enraged mob blinded by hatred towards Serbs and narrowly escape being killed.

"To this day, no one has been held accountable for that attack. This best demonstrates who was prepared to risk his own life for the sake of reconciliation, and who uses other people's suffering for cheap political point-scoring," Đurić said in a Facebook post.

He added that they are so blinded by hatred that even today they imagine the specter of Aleksandar Vučić in places where he is no longer present.
