JEVRIĆ: STRENGTH OF SERB PEOPLE LIES IN UNITY

BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 16 /SRNA/ - Writer and war correspondent Nebojša Jevrić, who was decorated on the occasion of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day, told SRNA that the strength of the Serb people lies in unity, about which he has written numerous books, and that for him the Drina River has never been a border but rather the backbone of this people.

"I devoted my life to the struggle for the unity of the Serb people. I have written 10,000 pages about it, 13 books and thousands of newspaper articles," Jevrić said.

He stressed that young people within the Serb national community know very little about many things and therefore sometimes fail to understand certain matters, but that once they realize that it is impossible to survive without faith, a state and a nation, they will understand everything else as well.

Jevrić, who was presented with the Order of the Star of Karađorđe, Second Class, by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in Belgrade yesterday, said that this recognition is awarded by Serbia, Republika Srpska and Serbs from Montenegro alike.

Jevrić is the first citizen of Serbia to have requested and obtained citizenship of Republika Srpska.

"I am not a citizen of Republika Srpska merely by virtue of the decision of the Presidency, which was certified by Nikola Koljević in May 1992, but also by the number of days I spent in Srpska," Jevrić stressed.

Serbia and Republika Srpska are marking Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day in memory of September 15, 1918, when the Serbian army broke through the Salonika Front, leading to the collapse of the Central Powers alliance and the end of the First World War.
