BELGRADE, AUGUST 29 /SRNA/ — Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić today opened Serbia’s first humanoid robot factory in Šabac, which he described as the first such facility in Serbia and Europe, and announced that the first application of robots for the Serbian Armed Forces would be presented in 15 days.

"The Serbian Armed Forces will be strengthened with robots so that the country can be defended," Vučić said, adding that Serbian experts had managed to equip certain robots with weapons and that the public would soon have an opportunity to see them.

During the opening of the first humanoid robot factory "Mint" in Serbia, Vučić said the facility would also produce mining and demining robots, as well as robots for firefighting and fire protection.

He said humanoid robots, quadrupeds and robotic dogs would have industrial applications, but would also be used to assist in homes and care for elderly people, transport injured people and animals, and carry food and water.

According to Vučić, robots should assist with loading and unloading hazardous materials and in households with elderly people, while increased production and exports would create more jobs.

He said 200 people would work at the factory, that the robots would bear the Made in Serbia label, describing the project as a quantum and economic leap. He also announced that a complete robotics and drone development park would soon be built in Inđija.
