BELGRADE, JULY 23 /SRNA/ – Serbia’s Justice Minister Nenad Vujić said concrete measures should be taken against Priština, arguing that the demolition of weekend houses owned by Serbs in the Gazivode area constitutes a serious violation of property rights and the rule of law.
Vujić called on the European Commission to urgently review the work of the judiciary in Kosovo and Metohija, saying that such cases raise serious questions about the functioning of the judicial system in Priština.
He called on the European Commission to insist on consistent respect for the rule of law, the protection of property rights, and the provision of efficient judicial protection for Serbs, the Serbia’s Ministry of Justice said in a statement.
Vujić said the Ministry of Justice, together with the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, would continue to provide full legal support to the affected citizens and would inform the relevant EU institutions and international organisations of each such case while seeking concrete measures against Priština.
The minister also welcomed the reactions of the EU and some of its member states.
