BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 21 /SRNA/ – Faith as a foundation and culture as a bridge between peoples was the message at this evening's Serbian Cultural Days in Hungary event in Banja Luka, said Ana Trišić Babić, director of the Republika Srpska Office for International Cooperation.
"We are particularly honored to have welcomed His Eminence Lukijan, Archbishop and Metropolitan of Buda and Administrator of Timisoara, who works tirelessly to preserve the Orthodox faith, Serbian culture and tradition.
We thank Biljana Gutić Bjelica, BiH's ambassador to Hungary, for her efforts in organizing this event, and Professor Dr. Balazs Deri for his presentation on the monograph The Orthodox Monastery of Grabovac: Serbian Artistic Heritage in 18th-Century Hungary, authored by Dr. Ksenija Golub," Trišić Babić posted on Instagram.
Through a photo exhibition by Ivan Jakšić and a Republika Srpska Post stamp issued in honor of Serbian Days in Hungary and Szentendre, the audience was able to discover another part of Serbia's rich heritage, she added.
She noted that Szentendre is the seat of the Diocese of Buda and one of the most important spiritual and cultural centers for Serbs in Hungary.
"For centuries, Serbs in Hungary have preserved their faith, language and customs through their churches, schools and cultural institutions. We share the same roots with them and the responsibility to pass this heritage on to new generations. For the Republika Srpska Office for International Cooperation, this gathering is also an incentive to continue working together and cherish the ties that connect us," Trišić Babić said.
