DECLARE APRIL 10 GENOCIDE GAINST SERBS IN NDH REMEMBRANCE DAY

BELGRADE, APRIL 10 /SRNA/ - The head of the Association of Serbs from the region Miodrag Linta has proposed to the state authorities of Serbia that April 10 be declared a remembrance day of the genocide against Serbs in the NDH.

Linta has stated as the main reason for this that with the establishment of the NDH on April 10, 1941, the implementation of the long-prepared plan to exterminate and destroy the Serb people by fire and sword in the entire area of today's Croatia, BiH and Srem up to Zemun with the aim of creating an ethnically pure Greater Croatia without Serbs, announced the Association of Serbs from the region.

"The entire Serbia should stop for two minutes every April 10. With the sound of sirens and church bells and two-minute silence in the streets, workplaces and other locations, as well as in the schools, the people would pay tribute to the Serb victims of the genocide in the NDH. Also, drivers and passengers should get out of cars and buses to honour the killed Serbs," said Linta.

He pointed out that a special lesson would be organised in primary and secondary schools on that particular day, and radio and TV stations would broadcast programmes with the genocide topic.

"It would also be important to hold a commemorative gathering on the occasion of commemorating the Day of Remembrance of the Serb Genocide Victims in the NDH. In this way, Israel commemorates the Day of Remembrance of Holocaust Victims every year," noted Linta.

He emphasized that, in addition, Serbia should adopt the resolution on the genocide of Serbs, Jews and Roma in the NDH and establish a memorial centre of genocide victims in the NDH.

"The goal of the proposed measures is to systematically nurture the culture of remembrance and start a fair fight for international recognition of the genocide against our people," Linta concluded.
