ČAKOVEC, OCTOBER 6 /SRNA/ – The International Festival of Professional Theatres for Children and Youth, "Lut Fest" from Istočno Sarajevo, has become a member of ASSITEJ, the world’s largest association dedicated to the development of theatre for children and young people, Vitomir Mitrić, director of "Lut Fest", told SRNA.
Mitrić noted that by joining ASSITEJ, "Lut Fest" further strengthens its role in building international connections and exchanging experiences among puppeteers, artists, and educators from various countries.
“For 26 years, the festival that has successfully connected different cultures, traditions, and puppet theatre aesthetics, now gains a new platform for international cooperation, education, and visibility in global cultural trends.
ASSITEJ membership opens doors to joint projects, international festivals, professional exchanges, and programmes that support the development of puppetry and youth’s creative expression,” emphasized Mitrić.
He added that this is an important step toward further strengthening international cooperation and promoting puppetry as an art that creates a unique cultural space, bringing people together and inspiring them.
“The international meeting in Čakovec, being held between October 5 and 10 as part of the Meeting of Professional Theatres for Children and Youth organised by the Croatian Centre ASSITEJ, is a step toward strengthening ties among practitioners who face similar challenges, but come from different professional backgrounds,” said Mitrić.
According to him, participants from Croatia, Serbia, Republika Srpska, the Federation of BiH, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, and other countries have gathered to exchange knowledge, map artistic and cultural realities, and jointly create new opportunities for cooperation.
