EAST SARAJEVO, August 6 /SRNA/ – Head of the SNSD caucus in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Sanja Vulić, has filed a criminal complaint with the BiH Prosecutor's Office against Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers Elmedin Konaković for alleged undue influence on the judiciary and abuse of official position.

Vulić told SRNA that Konaković, by calling for protests if the court does not deliver a "proper judgment," crossed the line from political criticism into the realm of unacceptable pressure on the judiciary.

"Considering that the Sarajevo political circles have for years claimed Konaković is protected in all his affairs by judicial institutions, his latest statement raises further concerns about whether the judiciary is truly independent or has become an extension of Konaković's political frustrations," said Vulić.

Konaković had previously stated that he would call for mass protests if the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, is acquitted - referring to the upcoming ruling by the Appellate Panel of the Court of BiH on Dodik's second-instance judgment.

Vulić assessed this as unacceptable pressure on the judiciary, specifically, as a call for the Court of BiH to hand down a conviction, as a form of political pressure aimed at influencing the outcome of the trial, thereby undermining the independence and impartiality of the court.

In her criminal complaint, she requested that the BiH Prosecutor's Office initiate criminal proceedings against Konaković for suspected criminal offenses within the jurisdiction of the Court of BiH.

The complaint also includes additional examples of Konaković's statements that, according to Vulić, support her claims of criminal conduct.
