SARAJEVO, APRIL 8 /SRNA/ – The demand by SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović that the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council /HJPC/ of BiH suspend a court president because he does not make decisions according to political dictates is unacceptable, brazen, and a dangerous pressure on the judiciary, head of SNSD Club in the BiH House of Representatives Sanja Vulić assessed.
The SDA Presidency yesterday welcomed the activities of the Bosniak Club in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, which resulted in involving the HJPC in the process of "full and strict implementation of BiH Court rulings against Milorad Dodik", and expressed expectations of disciplinary measures if the Banja Luka court continues to refuse to enforce the ruling.
Vulić pointed out that such statements by Izetbegović are not only a political scandal, but an open trampling of the law, democracy, and the existence of legislative authority.
"If the HJPC even considers reacting to this on someone's orders, the question rightly arises whether it is a professional and independent institution or an extension of political influence," Vulić told SRNA.
She stressed that this is not a matter concerning one individual or one function, but a test of whether the rule of law exists in BiH at all.
"If such pressure is accepted today, tomorrow there will no longer be even a minimum of judicial independence," Vulić concluded.
She added that such statements must be clearly and firmly rejected as unacceptable, and that any further insistence on political influence should be regarded as a direct attack on institutions.
"Milorad Dodik is a leader. The Serb people trust Milorad Dodik. That is a fact that neither /Christian/ Schmidt nor Bakir will change," Vulić stated.
She concluded that BiH has long been a country of absurdities, but that the SDA is truly striving to turn it into "Absurdistan".
