VUJIĆ: ABANDONING DAYTON PRINCIPLES CAN DISRUPT PEACE

BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 21 /SRNA/ – Respect for the Dayton Peace Agreement is not only a political obligation but a duty for all, Serbia's Minister of Justice Nenad Vujić told SRNA, pointing out that abandoning its principles of balance and equality among peoples and entities can undermine peace and stability.

Vujić emphasized that the Dayton Peace Agreement is a document that guarantees stability in BiH, but also in the wider region.

"As Serbia's minister of justice, I believe it is our duty to remain firmly committed to its full implementation and respect, precisely because Serbia is one of its signatories and guarantors of its enforcement," Vujić stated.

He stressed that legal certainty is precisely what the Dayton protects — the balance between the entities, the equality of the constituent peoples, and the framework within which all decisions must be made through agreement, not unilaterally.

"Any deviation from these principles can disrupt peace and stability," Vujić emphasized.

He said Serbia's position is clear – the peace, stability, and cooperation have no alternative.

"Serbia will continue to contribute to these goals responsibly, constructively, and consistently," Vujić said.

It has now been three full decades since the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH and its 12 annexes were initialed at the Wright–Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, ending the war in BiH and establishing its constitutional and legal order.
