SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 22 /SRNA/ - The Central Election Commission /CEC/ of BiH has neither granted nor can it revoke a mandate to Milorad Dodik as president of the SNSD, as in this case the Law on Political Organizations of Republika Srpska applies, former CEC member Vehid Šehić told SRNA.
"The CEC has no authority over the internal organization of political parties," Šehić said regarding the letter sent by BiH Court Judge Sena Uzunović to the CEC stating that Dodik cannot serve as the president of the SNSD.
He emphasized that he does not understand why the BiH Court delivered the decision to the CEC instead of the Registry Court in Banja Luka, which is the only body authorized to act on such a decision, given that the SNSD is registered in Republika Srpska.
Šehić stressed that court decisions must be respected, but each institution must also act within its own jurisdiction.
"A parliamentary party has a logical intention to act politically and participate in elections. Now it remains to be seen how the Registry Court in Banja Luka will act on this decision," Šehić concluded.
